Goodmorning Cupcake

This morning Mallory was just waking up and I was running my fingers through here hair and said "Good morning cupcake." Note to self, don't mention the word cupcake to a kid who loves thier food! She popped right up and said "cupcake?" Now all morning I've been trying to convince her she wants something other than a cupcake.

The Tongue Roller

Look how good Mallory can roll her tongue, you can hardly tell she's tongue tied. Oh, and for the first time tonight, she called Ryan "Ryan" instead of "RyRy." We'll see how long it takes for her to start saying Natalie instead of "NahNah."

The Glass Half Full

Mallory's latest thing she loves to do in the morning is feed Roscoe. As we are walking down the stairs, she says "hold on, we are coming Roscoe." Then we let him outside and the next words are always "I help." She puts the food in the bowl and takes it outside for him.
She also is obsessed with her stool. She loves washing her hands and will get them dirty just so she can wash them again. Apparently she likes getting old food out of the sink and eating it (that's what the big smile is for - she thought it was funny we were so disgusted that she was getting stuff out of the sink).

Mallory is also into picking out her clothes. I'm sure other parents at her school wonder why she never matches - well, honestly, it's not worth the fight. Last night she went to bed in jeans and a night gown because she insisted on wearing them to bed no matter how many times I told her they were not pajamas and that she could wear them tomorrow.
And what did she insist on for dinner tonight? Sunflower butter. She just ate it by the spoonful. She chose this over pizza (which is apparently right there with applesauce on her list of "don't like" foods).

So why is the glass half full? I was at my doctor's apt this morning (which everything is looking great and I'm measuring right where I should be) and I was reading a parenting magazine that offered some insight on tantrums and bossy-ness. It said dramatic children live their life big and their passion means they will go out into the world with determination and enthusiasm, and being bossy is an early sign of assertiveness. I couldn't help but laugh because that is definitely the "glass half full" way to look at it!

Happy Easter!

Our morning started with coming downstairs and looking for eggs. I have a video but I've been trying for two days to get it to upload and it hasn't worked. So I will continue to try later this week.
Next she saw the basket. The necklaces were the first thing she wanted. She thought it was really funny that the Nerf ducks would shoot across the room.

She couldn't quite do it by herself. Her favorite part was the graham crackers and juice (things she gets every day). She got the biggest kick out of the little bunny sticking when you would throw it and catch it.Natalie enjoyed scooching around with all the eggs.

Mallory thought it would be fun to scooch around too.

All the activities wiped her out (this was at 11am). Natalie hanging outside with Dan. She was putting her feet on Roscoe.
Last picture of the day.

Easter Entertainment

I'm not sure what has been up with Mallory the past day, but she has been saying things that have been totally catching us off guard.

Ryan was in the kitchen and we were sitting watching tennis in the living room and Ryan starting talking and she turned around and said "Ryan, quiet!"

Then, Daddy asks her for a kiss and she turned her head away and said "I'm too tired." Eric thinks she learned that one from me. :) This reminds me that we were getting into the shower the other day and she put her hand on her back and said "oh, my back hurts". She must have learned that one from me too.

Then Roscoe was barking and she looked at him and said "Roscoe, shut it!"

The innocence is lost.

I have also lost the ability to split a cookie unevenly and get away with the bigger piece.

Pre-Easter egg hunt

Mallory had an Easter egg hunt at school yesterday and now she wants me to hide her eggs every time she sees them. She asks me to "find them" but she really means "hide them."

I'm surprised she found this one, but when she went to grab it it went really far in so she didn't know how to get it out.

25 weeks!

Well I don't think I've grown as much this week, and I have only gained another pound, making the total 12.5. This is surprising because in the last week, Mallory and I have shared 5 pints of this rice ice cream.Every time Eric has had ice cream in the past he has always told her she can't have any because it will make her belly hurt. Now every time we eat our rice milk ice cream she start with "my belly hurts." This is an awful picture but I figured I should take one before I got caught up in Easter activities and forgot.

Easter Egg Dying

I didn't know how well she'd do with this, but she loved dropping the tablets in the buckets and dropping the eggs in the colors. Her favorite part of course was putting the stickers on them.

She lost her balance and fell forward which cracked the egg. She did not know what to do with it.
So proud of her eggs.
Even Daddy dyed one. Lisa and Dan did too but with all the chaos I didn't get a picture.
His creation. I have to admit though the dyes were not working well.
Putting the stickers on.
The final eggs (of course missing one because of the mishap above). The periwinkle one on the left is mine, Dan's is right above it, Eric's to the right of that, and Lisa's to the right of that. The rest were Mallory's.

Mallory's latest things.

Mallory is quite the character. Her new favorite obsession is her robe she got for her birthday. She wears it almost every night before bed even though it's been nice out. And how many kids do you know that only eat the crust?
Her latest saying is "you hurt me." It doesn't matter if you tickle her, kiss her, or rub her back, any touch is "hurting her."
And despite all the tantrums she's been having lately, she keeps us laughing. This morning I was putting her pig tails in and she always has to hold the hair ties. She dropped one and she kept saying "I dropped the tail."
She has also gotten really good at the ABC song. She sings it all by herself and she only doesn't say a few of the letters right, but she doesn't skip any. And speaking of skipping, her new favorite thing to do is skip everywhere.

The New Trashcan

Mallory has always been a great little helper. Every time we change her diaper she takes it to the trash. Lately, this has become her new trash.

Easter Cookies

Last weekend Eric was busily working on a trial paper, so I decided I'd decorate Easter cookies with Mallory. She had a great time. I was cleaning up and didn't notice she was already picking the candies off the cookies and putting them in her mouth. They are jawbreakers so she ending up spitting them out - all 8 of them!

The final product.

Fourth Avenue

Last Friday we went to see Ryan's acapella group perform. It started at 8 so we didn't know how well Mallory was going to handle it, but she had a blast. Unfortunately they were trying to record the performance and every time she'd see him on stage she'd yell "RyRy". Her favorite part was the clapping during some of the songs. I tried to get a picture of her rocking out but all I had was my cell phone and it was too dark - but you can get an idea of what she was dancing to.

Make Your Own Holiday

A couple weeks ago was make your own holiday day, I bet you didn't even know that day existed! Mallory's classroom came up with Favorite Color Day, so they all dressed in their favorite colors and celebrated by being crayons. She wouldn't let me take her picture so this is the best I could get.

Helping Dad Out

We had to get a new office chair and Mallory thought she would help Eric put it together. It was fun to watch his frustration level rise throughout the process. She loved holding the screws and her favorite part was to put them in any hole she could find on the chair. This involved moving the chair, which would cause Eric's allen wrench to fall out, making him start over. He called it lack of supervision on my part, I called it entertainment.

Anytime she puts on new clothes, sunglasses, a purse, etc., she thinks she needs her picture taken. So this was just after she was helping out with the chair.

24 weeks!

I can't believe how much happens in a week. My belly has definitely popped, and although I'm at 11.5lbs of weight gain (2lbs less than where I was with Mallory this week), I am definitely about 7 weeks ahead as far as belly size compared to when I was pregnant with Mallory. Hopefully this was just a fluke and I won't continue to grow this much in size each week.

23 weeks!

Yep, I've popped big time over the past 2 weeks. People have no problems asking when I'm due. I feel huge and although I'm only up to 9 lbs of weight gain now, my feet and tailbone would think otherwise.

Sunday morning Beignets.

Every time I'd go to Maryland to visit my Grammy and Pappy when I was younger we'd make Beignets, that was one of Pappy's specialties. I was at the grocery store the other day and saw the mix and thought I'd pick up a box so Mallory could enjoy them as well. Today was the day we made them.

Perfection.

At this point there was already so much of a mess I just let her enjoy it.
