Pre-3 Report Card

I guess you get a report  card in preschool these days. From what I can tell Mallory is a G student. I guess it's Good progress or Working Progress.  Anyway, I'm so proud of my straight G student!  I wish I could get her to be G child all the time at home. :)

Finding Peace of Mind

I will be the first to admit that things are a little crazy for us right now (and I'm sure you can tell because I'm 2 months behind on the blog!).  Anyway, many ask how I keep my sanity.  Well, I'm sure your not surprised, I'm a list maker.  Unfortunately most things on the list don't get done, but at least they are out of my head!  Oh, and I'm sure you do this to, and if not then it could be that I'm crazy, but I like to add things to the list that I did but weren't on there just so I can cross them off.

Work list

Personal list
And you know what else keeps my sanity??? The little things like a clean organized refrigerator.  With how many times you open it in a day, it sure brings a sense of peace when it's organized.  Who knew a refrigerator could be cool and refreshing? :)
Hopefully this post made you feel a little bit better about yourself and that maybe you feel normal (or a little less crazy than me).  What are some of the things you do to keep your sanity? I would love to hear!

Can you Guess What this Is?

Did you guess it?? It's a plastic spoon that went through the dishwasher.

Annual Build-a-Bear

Of course we couldn't pass up the annual build-a-bear experience with grandma Lisa.  It was even more fun this time because Jared got to do it too!

I think each time Mallory gets more and more comfortable with the whole process.

Waiting to get them filled.

Jared just pretended to push it with his foot.

Jared had so much fun with this little wheelchair! It was so funny to see him pushing it around. Everyone in the store was getting  a kick out of it. At one point he actually tried to sit in it himself.

Thanks Grandma!

Mallory's First Movie Theatre Experience

I love when we have visitors because that often means another round of firsts for something.  This time, my mom, GG, and I took Mallory to see her first movie, Chipwrecked.

Mallory has watched very few movies at home so I knew it would be difficult for her to sit through the whole movie, but she did pretty well.  At the end of the movie I had dropped my cell phone and was searching for it in the dark.  Everybody was leaving the movie theatre and Mallory had a full panic attack that we were going to get left in the theatre by ourselves and not be able to get out if we didn't leave right then!  I dont know where this fear came from, but it was very odd to say the least.  I also should have known that it would have been too loud for her (we are just now getting over the loud noise of the toilet flushing).

At the end of the day, I think her favorite part was the popcorn. :)

Pedicures!

Of course no girl weekend is complete with out pedicures!  This was Mallory's first pedicure experience.  As with any other unfamiliar activity, Mallory was skeptical, but after a lot of reassurance, we slowly got her to sit on her own chair and get her toes and fingers painted.

While we waited for our toes to dry, I braided Mallory's hair.  She wanted to see it so I took a picture on my phone to show her.  What did people do before the time of instant and convenient photos?

Somehow Mallory convinced GG that the toe separators were earrings.

We completed our day with a little ice cream from Ellen's! It was a fun girls day out (and boys for ice cream!)

Fashion Show

A visit from Grandma always means a shopping spree.  Mallory wanted to display all her new clothes so we had a little fashion show.  Jared of course wanted in on the action so he snuck his way into most of them somehow.

Jared just loves these pajamas. He calls them his ball shirt and insists on wearing them.  I try and hide them in the morning so we don't have a meltdown over not getting to wear them to school.

Grandma Lisa and GG

My mom and Grammy (Mallory calls her GG for Great Grandma) were able to come down for a long weekend and we had such a great visit.  From the pictures above and below, you can see we all got great quality time together baking, reading, cuddling, coloring, games, Wi Just Dance, and of course some football watching. You can see some of the other activities we did in the posts to follow.

I always realize after they leave that we never get any pictures of the four generations.  This time I remembered the morning they were leaving and of course nobody was around to take one.  This left us no choice other than the self photo...let's just say my hand does not stay very still at a distance!

A visit from Ryan and Sandra

Since we weren't able to see them at Christmas, Uncle Ryan and Aunt Sandra came to visit us for the weekend.  I think Mallory has really missed seeing them all the time.

We went to eat at the mall while they were here and both kids wanted to be with them. It was wierd to turn around and see our kids look like a family with someone else.

Primrose Family Dance Off 2012

It is that time of year again that we are submitting our video in the 2012 Primrose/Children’s Miracle Network Dance Off. Going to school full time and working full time made me strongly consider not entering our family in the competition this year, but for the following reasons, we felt that the least we could do is submit a 30 second video of our family dancing.

1) This is an obesity awareness campaign. Upon moving to West Virginia, we realized this state has one of the highest (if not highest) rate of obesity per capita. Good health is something we feel strongly about and wanted to raise awareness to others in the state.

2) Dancing is something silly we do around the house all the time to burn some energy, so we wanted to share that with others encourage them to do the same.

3) While our experience with Children’s Hospitals are limited (and we are very thankful for that), since moving to WV, we have met some neighbors in our community whose stories really touched us. We have had the opportunity to meet a young boy who was diagnosed with a degenerative brain disease as well as a family who gave birth to a beautiful baby girl with a heart condition, requiring immediate heart surgery. These two very touching stories brought a whole new perspective to our family of meaning behind and the value that winning this money could do for our local Morgantown/WVU Children's hospital.

Children’s hospitals never turn away a patient for financial reasons, and the least we could do is help win up to a $30K donation that can be used for these patients, or for the hospital to buy better equipment to enhance the quality of care.

Last year the competition was different as it was judged in addition to the number of votes received. This year, it is based solely on votes. Additionally, there is no registration required this year, just click and vote (one time per day per IP address), which I think will be to our advantage as people really HATED registering last year.

I ask that you please take a couple of seconds out of your day to click on the link below to help win money for the Children’s Miracle Network Hospital in Morgantown, WV. Please feel free to share this with any others that would like to help. All you have to do is vote.

Voting starts February 25, 2012 and you can continue to vote once per day per IP address until we make it to the finals (4 videos with the highest number of votes each week go to the finals).

If we make it the finals, there will be a final voting week where the sixteen finalists will compete from 12:00 a.m. EST on March 26, 2012 to 11:59 EST on March 30, 2012.

One the video is posted, you can vote (and learn more about the contest) here:

Thank you for supporting such a great cause!

If you would like a sneak peak of the video prior to it posting for voting tomorrow, you can view it here:

P.S. In case you were wondering how we chose our video idea, we chose the song that we danced around our house to the most over the past year.  With the exception of the Hollywood backdrop, each background is a place we've lived.  We hope you enjoy (and I apologize that my editing skills and green screen were below par).

Update* Here is a link to our media article for making it to the finals.  We won $1000 for the WVU children's hospital.

We ended up teaming up with the Froehlich Family and they were able to win 3rd place this year!! Next year hopefully we'll have enough time to pull it off (don't all of you get too excited at once! :))
Thank you to everyone who supported us!
