Helping Dad Out

We had to get a new office chair and Mallory thought she would help Eric put it together. It was fun to watch his frustration level rise throughout the process. She loved holding the screws and her favorite part was to put them in any hole she could find on the chair. This involved moving the chair, which would cause Eric's allen wrench to fall out, making him start over. He called it lack of supervision on my part, I called it entertainment.

Anytime she puts on new clothes, sunglasses, a purse, etc., she thinks she needs her picture taken. So this was just after she was helping out with the chair.

24 weeks!

I can't believe how much happens in a week. My belly has definitely popped, and although I'm at 11.5lbs of weight gain (2lbs less than where I was with Mallory this week), I am definitely about 7 weeks ahead as far as belly size compared to when I was pregnant with Mallory. Hopefully this was just a fluke and I won't continue to grow this much in size each week.

23 weeks!

Yep, I've popped big time over the past 2 weeks. People have no problems asking when I'm due. I feel huge and although I'm only up to 9 lbs of weight gain now, my feet and tailbone would think otherwise.

Sunday morning Beignets.

Every time I'd go to Maryland to visit my Grammy and Pappy when I was younger we'd make Beignets, that was one of Pappy's specialties. I was at the grocery store the other day and saw the mix and thought I'd pick up a box so Mallory could enjoy them as well. Today was the day we made them.

Perfection.

At this point there was already so much of a mess I just let her enjoy it.

Bad parenting moment #2

So I'm sure I've had more than two bad parenting moments in the past two years. However, this is only the second one I think I'll remember, the first being when I cut half her thumb off while trying to cut her fingernails a year ago.

We just bought a bed rail and put it on my side of the bed and it has worked out great. Last night, Mallory fell asleep on Eric's side of the bed and we should have moved her right away like we always do. I didn't think I'd fall asleep as fast as I did so I postponed moving her. It felt so great to wake up to a big thump and a screaming child. This morning we woke up to a nice bruiser on her eye...poor kid. These pictures really doesn't do justice to how it really looks but it gives you an idea.

Spring Clothes and Pig Tails

I may be biased but spring clothes and pig tails make for the cutest kid ever. Unfortunately this outside playtime ended early due to a lesson about not running into the street.

It's Broken

After about 5 minutes of nursing on one side tonight, Mallory sat up and said "Other one, this one is broken."

4 Things You Probably Didn't Know

1) The Dustbuster is something we should have invested in a long time ago. Mallory is very persist ant about eating a snack before she goes to bed and when she wakes up in the morning, which has left us finding many cheerios stuck to our backs, in between our toes, and endless nights of sleeping in crumbs. Thank you Dustbuster!

2) Last night I learned Mallory clenches her jaw in her sleep. Yes, I learned the hard way. I also learned that a clenched jaw does not easily open. It took both Eric and myself to get it open. I'm surprised I am still in one piece. Note to self, pay attention to a sleeping child and detach right away!

3)Parenting books always say two options make the child feel like they are in control and get to pick. This is not the case for Mallory, so much that if you give her two things to choose from, she takes both and adds something else. I have given up on trying to leave anything in the car when we go to school. I have decided to let them try and get her to give it up because mine ends with a tantrum every time. It used to be just a snack cup we took to school in the morning. It is now up to a snack cup, a juice box, 2 baby dolls, and a blanket.

4) Tonight Mallory had to have different pajamas on because she insisted on wearing her red shoes (which are at least 2 sizes too small). After spilling juice all over her shirt she needed changed. We only had her new pajamas left, so I put them on and she said "picture mom?". Does that mean I take too many pictures? Here is just before she went to bed (Yes, I lost the battle to take off the shoes).

Spring Time!

Eric has class on Tuesday and Thursday nights and it's been really nice to be able to take Mallory to the park while he isn't home so she doesn't think about it. There is a park with a creek right by our house so I thought I'd be adventurous tonight and let her play in it. She had a blast!
At first she was very cautious.
Then she realized there were rocks she could pick up.
So excited about a rock...I know what all my future holiday gifts will be.

Another one!

Then I told her to throw it in the water. She thought this was great because throwing things is her favorite thing to do.
Thinking it was really great the rock made a splash.

Starting to get further out.

Not a fan of the falling.

Not sure what to think about her pants getting all wet.

Back up to the slide.

Since she was so wet we had to strip her down before getting in the car. I thought it was cute to see her feet print from walking in wet socks on the ground.
Skipping rocks in the water.

Mallory has been saying "I love you" for about a week now. You can't get mad at a kid when they know those words!

Bargain Sales- Never Again!

Last Saturday they had this huge baby bargain sale where 20% of the proceeds went to the children's hospital. I figured it wouldn't hurt to give it a try. Little did I know, arriving at the start time meant standing in line for 45 minutes to get in the door. The best part was that it was raining - and the line was outside. I should have just drove back home, but I had already drove 30 minutes to get there and I thought the line would move much faster than it did.

About 20 minutes after standing in the rain, I was tempted to leave, but at that point I felt invested, so it felt like even more of of waste if I were to turn back at this point. We finally get inside and then I really felt like I had to get a great deal. After searching around, I found some clothes and a bedding set so I go to get in line, and yep, another 45 minutes, with screaming kids and pregnant ladies everywhere. I definitely thought people would be more hormonal but people were surprisingly nice - they must do it often and know what to expect. Needless to say, I will never be doing another one of these again. I think I'd rather just work a few hours of overtime and pay full price.

Here is the best deal of the day at a whole $1 (which Mallory picked out and carries around saying "baby's shoes") :

We also got a golf outfit and a church outfit that were super cute. I forgot to take pictures so hopefully I can get some up soon.

Birthday Party!

This past weekend we had some family over for a little birthday celebration for Mallory. It wasn't anything fancy, but she had a great time opening presents and everyone else had a great time watching Ohio State basketball and the cupcakes.

I had to put this picture because it shows the deviled eggs, which I had Dan taste before I made them all to see if they were salty enough. Out of politeness he didn't tell me the were overly salty. It wasn't until we all sat down to eat and I had one that I about lost it. I have been craving extra salty things this pregnancy, but even I thought they were too salty! Oh well, we survived. If I would have put mustard in them it probably would have fixed the problem, but I went to the store to get the mustard and somehow came home without any...I blame the pregnancy.
For some reason I thought cupcakes would be easier than a cake...wrong- I forgot how tedious they are! The plan was to make them all look like the top...

Mallory's new table and all her presents.

Mallory had a blast hitting the balloons into the air.

Reading her new book.

Drawing on her magna doodle- best present ever! (but I am biased)
Singing Happy Birthday.

I had to put this picture because I thought it was funny that Dan and Mallory are doing the same thing.

Such a good cupcake -especially for being dairy, soy, and gluten free!

"Uh-oh" she says..."we need to wash."

All her wonderful gifts. Thanks everyone!

My beautiful artwork.

Fun in the sun today (finally!)

Here is us singing to Mallory.

She thought going down on her belly was a good idea and she kept repeating it even though she face planted every time.

Some things never change....

Vroom, Vroom...

She's not really sure what to do with this yet.

Mallory's 2!

Well Mallory is two today and she is weighing in at 34lbs and 36 inches. I guess this means she'll be 6 feet when she's older, we'll see how accurate that is. Here are some things she has been up to lately:

She can count to to ten in English, and partially in Spanish (she says uno, dos, quatro, diez).

She loves to color a lot and play with play dough.

She always puts her bears and babies to sleep with the blanket on their head and pats their back.

She has to have a snack and a juice box the moment she wakes up. I think she says it while she is still sleeping.

She is a great laundry helper. She loves pushing the basket and putting the clothes in and out of the washer and dryer. The downside is that she loves to unfold folded laundry.

She loves bath time, especially eating the bubbles. She hates when the water gets in her eyes when we wash her hair.

She knows at night we eat dinner, take a bath, get a diaper on (sometimes with cream), get pajamas on, brush her hair, and brush her teeth (which she isn't usually a fan of unless "Daddy do it.")

She'll eat pretty much anything but applesauce and potato peels.

She sings all day long. Her favorites are still Down, Row Row Row your Boat, Twinkle Twinkle, the Itsy Bitsy Spider, Are you Sleeping, and many others that she learns at school that we don't know the names of.

She loves telling Roscoe "no bawking Woscoe."

Everything is "my this" and "my that." I love teasing with her and saying "no it's mine" back to her. She thinks it's funny most of the time (unless it's in regards to Daddy).

She likes sitting in the massage chair I got for my birthday (which is amazing) just as much as I do.

She could easily be potty trained because she will tell us to put a diaper on when she needs to go potty, but she wont actually go in her potty.

She can throw really far and most of the time what you get hit it hurts.

Everything is "ah me." So if you are leaving the room she will say that so you take her too.

She has all the kids coats and hooks at school memorized by name (and I have no idea how she knows this). They say she just watches them when they come in.

She gives the best hugs and kisses (on her terms). The kisses are even closed lip now!

She can't stand when her coat touches her face when we put her in the car seat and is very adamant you put her coat edges under the straps.

She loves the Backyardigans and Barney in the car in the morning (a whole 3 minutes on the way to school).

Frito's are her favorite snack (and the one snack that the smell of makes me sick!).

She thinks we have to have the computer in order to nurse.

She has to have a fork or spoon to eat dinner.

She thinks it's really funny to run as fast as she can away from you in the store.

She loves teasing Roscoe with her food by dangling her hand down the chair and then yelling at him if he starts sniffing it.

She is the sweetest, most polite (saying please and thank you), and helpful kid most of the time but she is definitely a tantrum thrower.

Time outs don't work because she will put herself in them after she does something wrong.

She is very sensitive and gets her feelings hurt easily when she knows we are upset.

All of sudden she's started singing "da da da da Batman!" She's never seen it or heard that from us....

She has been singing "Happy Day to You" all morning. We are having a birthday party for her next Saturday so hopefully I can get some good pics up then. Have a great week!

21 weeks!

I am a little over half way there and I am getting bigger by the day. I have only gained 6.5 lbs, which is normal with how sick I've been. We just found out the hospital may be totally renovated by the time we have this baby, or it could be under construction and we might be in temporary rooming... let's hope for the first. Here is a little progression.

724 Days....

724 days is how long it took for Mallory to officially sleep through the night. All the moving must have made her tired. It happened again two nights ago, but it is definitely not consistent - but at least I know it is possible now! Here is a little bed head:

Mallory was a little trooper throughout the whole move. Her favorite part of it was cleaning out the food in the freezer...and she had to hold it by herself. I think she would have eaten the whole pint if we would have let her.

Moving Again???

Well- after our landlords decided to sell and not let us renew our lease (in July), we decided it would be better to move now over Eric's spring break than to wait until July when the baby is born. Luckily we had lots of help from family, but it was extremely cold and of course snowing the day we moved. It didn't help that our 26 foot moving truck turned into a 17 foot truck because of a parking break malfunction. It took Eric and the movers 9 hours to get everything moved over.

Despite that, my day started off waiting for the gas man to come so we could have some heat. After waiting with my coat on, sitting in a camping chair with a small electric heater for 3 hours, he finally showed up. I thought I had lost a finger, but luckily it's still there. Despite the uncleanliness left from the prior tenant, and the house not really matching our furniture, it has turned out quite nice. I have noticed myself a bit more fatigued from actually have stairs now and I also feel like it's so easy to lose Mallory with all the rooms!

We also noticed a wretched smell coming from one of the rooms. The landlord asked the prior tenant about it and he said "oh yeah, that was always there so we just lit a candle". Well smells in general don't work out for me, especially during pregnancy, so I was not on board with that option. We think at this point the problem has been fixed, so we'll see if the smell returns...

Our new address is: 1974 N Sheffield Drive, Bellbrook, OH 45305.
